April 29, 2006

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Elis had a tough weekend at Penn Relays in competition Friday and Saturday afternoons, but a few members of the track team pulled through with some positive performances. Almost 50,000 spectators were present Saturday afternoon at Penn's Franklin Field. It was the second highest Saturday attendance in the meet's 112-year history.

John Langhauser continued to impress by placing second in the eastern division of the shot put. His throw of 17.02 meters was a new personal record, and was barely beat by Rutger's Paul Applegate, who threw 17.08 meters.

In the eastern division of the high jump, Jihad Beauchman was impressive as well, placing second with a height of 2.10 meters. The winning height was 2.13 meters by Paul Klemic of Richard Stockton College.

The distance medley relay team of Brian Gertzen, Matthew Bordoni, Mark Falco and Patrick Dantzer placed fifth in their heat with a time of 9:51.70, good enough for fifth fastest in school history.
