GAINESVILLE, Fla. - John Langhauser barely missed out on automatically qualifying for nationals as he finished sixth in the shot put at the 2007 NCAA East Regional Track and Field Championship. His throw of 18.43 meters tied fifth place, but the tie was broken by comparison of their second best throws, which was 18.01 meters for Langhauser and 18.23 meters for Wes Stockbarger of Florida.
Langhauser's throw broke his own school record by 40 centimeters. He still has a chance at qualifying for nationals depending on how other throwers in the nation perform.
Joseph Kingsbery competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, but did not finish the race.
Yale finished the meet in 42nd place with four points.
