Austin, TX - Yale's Lucas Meyer ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:11.21 tonight at the NCAA Championship, finishing 10th in his preliminary heat. The top five in each of the two heats, along with the next four best times, advanced to the finals. That left Meyer just under nine seconds away from qualifying, as the eighth-place runner in his heat (Florida's Daniel Parker) was the final qualifier at 9:02.23. Ohio State's Aaron Fisher ran the fastest time (8:46.99).
The event had originally been scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed due to inclement weather.
