Yale opened its 2005/2006 season by dominating the Lidlifter Invite on Saturday at the Coxe Cage in New Haven, Conn. The Bulldogs won 10 of the meet's 18 events.
The first place finishers included, Victor Cheng in the 60-meter dash (6.99), Kevin Alexander in the 200-meter dash (22.38) and the 400-meter dash (49.00), Matthew Boshart in the 800-meter run (1:58.28), Courtland Keteyian in the 1,000-meter run (2:26.67), Erik Brown in the 5,000 meter run (15:06.72), Dan O'Brien in the 60-meter hurdles (8.27), Yale's `A' 4 by 400-meter relay team (3:17.11), Yale's `A' 4 by 800-meter relay team (8:04.47) and Jihad Beauchman in the triple jump (14.81 meters).
The Bulldogs had a number of other top finishes at the meet as well. Chris Tingue raced to a third place finish in the 400-meter dash (50.46), Shomari Taylor came in second in the 500-meter run (1:04.42) and Mark Falco took home a second place finish in the 1,000 meter run (2:27.51).
John Langhaser and Jeff Lachman came in second and third respectively in the weight throw. Langhaser recorded a throw of 14.80 meters, while Lachman's throw was 14.48 meters).
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Jan. 14 when they host the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn. The meet will begin at 9 a.m.
