John Langhauser (Basking Ridge, NJ) was recently elected by the members of the track and field team to serve as captain for the 2006-2007 season. His success this year in the throwing events has been an inspiration for all, as his outstanding performances were clearly a result of all the hard work he has put into training.
Whether it was losing weight and getting stronger this summer, or the extra time spent working on his form in the circle, Langhauser made drastic improvements in the discus, hammer, and, most notably, the shot put. He was second indoors in the shot put (16.06 meters) and recently won Heps outdoors (16.49 meters). He has the fourth best all-time distances in the shot put both indoors (16.77 meters) and outdoors (17.02 meters). He will be competing at NCAA regionals next weekend on Saturday (5/27) in North Carolina.
Mirroring Langhauser's success this year was his time at Ridge High School, where he was second at the Eastern States Championships indoors and held the number one put in New Jersey indoors.
