LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Yale men's cross country team was led by sophomore Jonathan Lomogda at the NCAA Pre-Nationals today in Louisville, Ky. Today's meet served as a preview of the course that will be used for the NCAA Championships at the end of the season. The meet was composed of Division I teams from around the country, and the Bulldogs faced steep competition.
Lomogda was the Bulldogs' top finisher of the day, finishing the 8k in a personal-best time of 24:31.6. That time is nearly 50 seconds faster than his previous-fastest time of the season at the Panorama Farms Invitational. Today, he finished 105th overall for the Bulldogs out of 282 runners from across the country.
First-years Will Laird and Charlie Gardner along with senior Matt Chisholm also competed at today's meet. Both Laird and Gardner ran new personal best times, finishing the race in under 25 minutes at 24:50.0 and 24:54.1 respectively. Chisholm set a season-best time of 25:25.6.
Full results from today's meet can be found here. The Elis will next be in action next weekend on Friday, Oct. 20 at the CCSU Mini-Meet in New Britain, Conn. A full preview of that meet will be available next week.
