Bethlehem, Pa. - Senior Lucas Meyer placed third out of 250 runners to lead the Yale men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish among 36 teams from all three NCAA divisions at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh. Casey Moriarty finished 12th, and all five scoring Bulldogs were in the top 50.
Meyer came in in 23:59.99, and Moriarty ran a 24:21.00. Patrick Dantzer, Josh Yelsey and Nathan Clute finished 31st, 46th and 49th, respectively. Andrew Johnson placed 63rd, seven spots ahead of Joe Kinsbery.
Meyer finished less than 17 seconds after winner Joshua McDougal of Liberty and less than seven behind Villanova's Robert Curtis.
Georgetown won the event with 94 points. Yale's 131 points were just two more than fourth-place La Salle. There were 24 Division I teams and 163 D-I athletes competing in the event.
