The men's cross country team competed Saturday in their first meet of the season, the Great Meadows Cross Country Invitational, held at the Plains in Virginia. The Hoya men won the meet overall, with their runners coming in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, with a total of 17 points.
Yale finished third overall, behind American, with a total of 93 points. The team average time was 21:56.80.
Senior Erik Brown was the first Eli to cross the finish line, coming in 13th, with a time of 21:33.00.
Sophomore Eric Kerchberger and freshman Kevin Collins finished 18th and 19th respectively, and freshman Jared Bell came in 22nd. Jacob Bruene, freshman, came in 28th, posting a time of 22:24.00. Senior Wyatt Golding finished 34th overall. Freshmen Andrew Samuels and Murat Kayali rounded out the Yale showing, coming in 37th and 43rd.
The relatively young cross country team had a very strong showing at this weekend's meet and are looking forward to more success as the season progresses.
