NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Coming off a competitive eighth-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Region meet last Saturday, the Bulldogs have just one more race this season. The Elis will compete in the IC4A Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, where they will race against other Eastern colleges. The five-mile race is set to go off at 10:30am.
Last year at this meet, junior Jake Gallagher placed sixth with a time of 25:20.9, leading Yale to a third-place team finish. At this year's meet, some of the runners are opting to rest for the upcoming track season, which will give younger and less experienced members of the team a prime opportunity to gain race experience on Van Cortlandt Park, which is the site of the annual Heptagonal Ivy League Championships. Van Cortlandt Park will also host next year's NCAA Northeast Regional meet.
Senior Captain Tadhg O'Callaghan, in his last collegiate cross-country race, will be a significant source of leadership this weekend. Contributions from the junior class could also be the key to a good team score, with Murat Kayali, Jared Bell and John Hinkle up front. Combined with the efforts of several underclassmen, Yale is looking for another solid performance at the IC4A meet.
