David Napper, a junior from Cypress, Calif., was named captain of the 2006 Yale Men's Cross Country Team in a team vote earlier this week.
Napper, coming off an injury-plagued season, was still able to put together a few strong showings. He was Yale's top runner -- and second-place finisher overall -- at the Yale Harvard dual meet. His time of 25:34.28 was a Yale course record for a Bulldog runner, while Napper led the Blue to victory over the Cantabs for the fourth year in a row and sixth in the last seven meets.
"David Napper is an exceptional individual as well as a great runner. I am looking forward to great things from the team next fall with the him as captain. He is a natural leader that can always be counted on to do and say the right thing," said Yale head coach Dan Ireland.
