Dec. 14, 2004
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Patrick Dantzer (Grosse Pointe Park, MI) has been elected captain of the 2005 Yale men's cross country team. The announcement was made at the team banquet on Dec. 6, following a team vote. Dantzer was Yale's third finisher at both the Heptagonal Championship and the NCAA Regionals this fall.
"I am looking forward to working with Patrick next fall," said Yale head coach Dan Ireland. "He has developed into a team leader who has my respect and that of his teammates. I am confident that he will continue the tradition of excellence that has become synonymous with all captains at Yale, both in the athletic arena and in the classroom."
Lucas Meyer, the 2004 captain, was the recipient of John Cleary-Mike Stanley Class of 1954 Cross Country Award, which was presented at the banquet. It is given annually to the member of the Yale men's cross country team that excels in dedication, commitment, and inspiration to the sport of cross country.
