By virtue of finishing in a tie for second place in the Ivy League and holding the head-to-head tiebreaker over the team they were tied with (Harvard), thanks to its first season sweep of Harvard since 1994, the Yale women's basketball team has earned an automatic bid in the 2011 Women's NIT.
The WNIT includes 31 teams that earned an automatic berth and 33
teams that were given at-large berths. The bracket was released
several hours following the NCAA Tournament selection, which was
announced at 7 p.m. Monday, March 14.
The Postseason WNIT will open with first-round games Wednesday
through Friday, March 16-18. The event culminates Saturday, April 2
with the championship. All games are hosted by participating
schools.
