  • Sarah Halejian Named Yale Captain For 2014-15 Season

    The Yale University women's basketball team has announced that guard Sarah Halejian has been named the team's captain for the upcoming 2014-15 season. Halejian becomes Yale's 37th captain in the women's basketball program's history, as voted upon by her teammates.
  • Yale Women’s Basketball Announces Class of 2018

    Chris Gobrecht, the Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954, Head Coach of Women's Basketball at Yale University, announced the incoming Bulldogs' Class of 2018 today. Guards Clara Mokri, Mary Ann Santucci and Tamara Simpson and forward Jen Berkowitz will join the Yale roster in 2014-15 as freshmen beginning this fall.

    Sarah Halejian earned All-Ivy League honors for the third time after helping Yale collect 13 wins and finish in the top four of the league for a fifth straight season. Halejian was named to the All-Ivy League First Team for the second time after leading the Bulldogs in the scoring for the second straight season.

    A strong defensive effort and balanced offense helped the Yale women’s basketball team down Dartmouth, 57-41, at Leede Arena on Saturday night. Janna Graf scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bulldogs.

    Following a pair of outstanding performances in Yale’s 2-0 week, Sarah Halejian picked up two weekly honors on Monday. She was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week for the third time this season and she was also named the "Madness Ivy League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week" by College Sports Madness.

    In a game which neither team held a lead larger than six points, Yale managed to fend off Columbia, 73-68, on Saturday night at John J. Lee Amphitheater. The Bulldogs took advantage of 17 offensive rebounds and scored 21 points off of turnovers to key the win and complete a sweep of the weekend’s contests.

  • Bulldogs Begin Four-Game Homestand This Weekend

    The Yale women’s basketball team returns to John J. Lee Amphitheater this weekend for a pair of games and will host its annual Pink Zone and “Battle of the Badges” events on Saturday. Fans wearing pink to the game against Columbia will receive free admission, while all of the day’s proceeds will go to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven and Yale Cancer Center through the “Closer To Free” fund.

    The Yale Women’s Basketball team is proud to partner with the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, the Yale Cancer Center and the “Closer to Free Fund” to host its annual Pink Zone event to raise breast health awareness on Saturday, Feb. 22. Entering its seventh year, the Pink Zone day will be highlighted with pink-themed events at the women’s basketball game against Columbia at 7 p.m. in John J. Lee Ampitheater, as well as the “Battle of the Badges” competition earlier in the day.
