Yvonne Hawkins

Position:
Assistant Coach

Hawkins begins her second season as an assistant at Yale, but she is no stranger to the Division I ranks. As recruiting coordinator for the Bulldogs, Hawkins is responsible for heading the national recruiting efforts of the Yale staff. Her on-court teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, focusing on the guard and small forward positions.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, she spent 19 years working at the college level. During her 15-year stint as an assistant at the University at Albany, Hawkins helped the program move from the Division III level up to Division I competition. At Albany, she was responsible for teaching position skills to the forwards and centers.

Before her work with the Great Danes, Hawkins gained two years of head coaching experience with SUNY - Delhi. Last summer, Hawkins scouted for the WNBA Champion Detroit Shock.

She earned a bachelors of education in Physical Education from Ashland University in 1983. While at Ashland, she played for the Eagles' squad, led the team in rebounding and captained the team her final two seasons.
