Four Cavaliers Score in Double Figures to Turn Back Bulldogs

Dec. 28, 2005

Box Score

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The University of Virginia Cavaliers had four players finish with at least 10 points, led by 19 off the bench from Lyndra Littles, to lead them to a 91-42 victory over the Yale Bulldogs in the first round of the Marriott Cavalier Classic on Wednesday night. Freshman Kaitlyn Lillemoe (Minnetonka, Minn.) led the Bulldogs with nine points in the loss.

Virginia struck early and often, scoring the first 23 points of the game before a Lillemoe jumper got Yale on the board at the 13:12 mark. The Cavaliers, however, continued to shoot lights out from the field, hitting at a 55.6% clip in the half, to take a 40-19 lead into the locker room.

The Cavaliers maintained control in the second half, capitalizing on numerous Bulldog turnovers and tough defense to keep any thoughts of a comeback at bay. Virginia went on to win 92-41.

The loss drops Yale to 0-9 on the season, while the victory is Virginia's eight in nine games. The Bulldogs take on the Terriers of Boston University in the consolation game of the tournament, tip-off is at 4:30 pm. Virginia takes on Holy Cross for the championship.
