Colborne Nabs Rookie Honors Again

NEW HAVEN, Conn.--Winning Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors is becoming routine for Melissa Colborne. The freshman guard was selected Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fifth time this season on Monday.

Colborne averaged 14.5 points, four rebounds and 3.5 assists in wins over Lehigh and Massachusetts last week. She tallied a career-high 20 points in the victory at Lehigh. Colborne shot 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-6 from three-point range while going a perfect 7-for-7 from the line in that game. She also posted four rebounds and two assists. In the win over Massachusetts, the Calgary, Alberta, native poured in nine points and added five rebounds while dishing out a career-high five assists.

On the season, Colborne ranks second on the team and leads all Ivy League freshmen in scoring with 11.9 points per game. She is also fourth on the team in rebounding (3.1 rpg) and third in assists (2.1 apg). Colborne is fourth in the conference with a free throw percentage of .816 (62-of-76).

Yale (7-7) enters conference play on a five-game winning streak. Brown visits the John J. Lee Amphitheater Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Bulldogs' Ivy League opener.
