Colborne Earns Sixth Rookie of the Week Selection

Jan. 22, 2007
NEW HAVEN, Conn.--Melissa Colborne has done it again. For the sixth time this season, the freshman guard earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Monday for her seven-point, 10-rebound performance at Brown. Colborne has taken six of the nine Rookie of the Week awards this season.
On Saturday, Colborne stepped in for the injured Chinenye Okafor, who leads the team in rebounding. Colborne pulled down a career-high 10 boards, including seven on the offensive end. She also registered two steals in a career-high 34 minutes of action. The Calgary, Alberta, native tallied seven points in the game and went 5-for-6 from the free throw line to improve her team-leading free throw percentage to .826. Colborne and Okafor are tied for second on the team in scoring with 11.4 ppg.
Also named to the Ivy League Honor Roll was sophomore guard Jamie Van Horne. Van Horne posted a career-high 21 points and tied a school record with seven three-pointers. She went 7-for-7 from behind the arc, which set a new Ivy mark and tied the NCAA record for three-point percentage in a game.
The Bulldogs (8-8, 1-1 Ivy) return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. Harvard visits the John J. Lee Amphitheater Friday night at 7 p.m., and Dartmouth comes to town the following night at 7 p.m.
