NEW HAVEN, Conn. - There was a party atmosphere at the John J. Lee Amphitheater on Friday night as nearly 500 students came out to celebrate Midnight Madness with the Yale men's and women's basketball teams. The night began with games for the student body, including a residential college shootout and a three-point contest. At midnight, the lights went out and both teams were introduced as Michael Jackson's Thriller played in the background. The two teams then took part in skills competitions, capped by a Slam Dunk Contest.
The Yale men's basketball team opens the season by hosting Stanford on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., while the women's play their first home game on Nov. 18 against Bucknell at 7 p.m.
