Hornets Down Bulldogs 58-48

Dec. 19, 2005
DOVER, DEL. -- Chinenye Okafor (Rolla, Mo.) scored a team-high 13 points, including 11 in the first half for Yale, but it wasn't enough to overcome a tough Delaware State defence that held Yale to just 48 points. Ashlee Burbage led all scorers, pacing Delaware State with 15.
Yale fell behind in both halves by as many as eight points, but battled back in each instance to knot the score, and took a one point lead in the second half with just under nine minutes left in the second half at 40-39. Delaware State would clamp down on defence for the remainder, going on a 12-0 run to put the game away.
The loss drops Yale to 0-7 while Delaware State is now 5-2.
Yale returns to action on Tuesday in Washington D.C. against George Washington. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
