HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England - Yale's varsity eight has defeated many of the top collegiate crews in the United States in the last few years. On Sunday, in the final of the Remenham Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames River, the Bulldogs got to test themselves against a crew that may someday compete in the Olympics. Leander Club & Wallingford R.C., which is essentially Great Britain's national team, edged Yale by three lengths, finishing with a time of 7 minutes, 37 seconds.
The Bulldogs were within striking distance for most of the race but a late push by Leander proved to be the difference.
