NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women’s crew team will continue its fall season with the Head of the Charles regatta in Cambridge, Mass., this weekend. The Bulldogs kicked off their season last weekend by winning both events in which they participated at the Head of the Housatonic. They will look to continue their winning ways in the 45th installment of the Head of the Charles this weekend. The Head of the Charles is the world's largest two-day rowing event, with more than 7,500 athletes from around the world competing in 55 different events.
The Head of the Charles regatta will include all of the Bulldogs’ Ivy League rivals, as well as other competitive college crews from throughout the nation. At last year’s regatta, Yale finished first among all collegiate eights—bested only by the Canadian National Team and the Dutch National Team. The Elis also finished first among collegiate crews and third overall in the Championship Fours—behind only Roforeningen Kvik and London Training Center. They did however win the Club Eights outright, ensuring that all participating Yale crews received medals.
The Bulldogs will get the opportunity to compete only against college crews next weekend, at the Princeton Three-Mile Chase. Yale won the gold in the eights at last year’s event.
The full schedule for the regatta can be found here.
