NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The latest chapter in the Yale-Brown women's crew rivalry is set for Saturday on the Seekonk River in Providence. The action is scheduled to get underway at 10:15 a.m. The winner of the varsity eight race will take home the Nat & Anne Case Cup.
The teams have had some epic battles in recent years. Last spring, Brown's varsity eight edged the Bulldogs by one-tenth of a second in the regular season finale, but Yale came back to win the Ivy League title at the Eastern Sprints two weeks later. In the second varsity, the Bulldogs won the regular season meeting, but Brown finished first at the Eastern Sprints before Yale rallied to win the Grand Final at the NCAA Championships. The varsity four also had mixed results. Brown won the regular season meeting, but the Bulldogs captured the Eastern Sprints title.
This season, the Bulldogs are ranked fourth, while the Bears come in at No. 5.
Saturday is the final race of the regular season for both schools. The Eastern Sprints are May 16 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J., and the NCAA Championships are May 28-30 on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif.
