Ritzel ’10 Named To USRowing Under 23 National Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Taylor Ritzel '10, who stroked the Yale varsity eight to an NCAA championship in May, has been named to the USRowing Under 23 National Team. Ritzel will stroke the U.S. women's eight at the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships scheduled for July 22-25 in Brest, Belarus. It is the second straight year Ritzel has represented the United States. She won a silver medal with the eight at last year's world championships.

At Yale, Ritzel sat in the varsity eight in each of her four years and helped the Bulldogs to three Ivy League titles and three NCAA varsity eight crowns. She earned CRCA All-America honors three times and served as Yale's captain as a senior.

Ritzel will be one of three Ivy Leaguers in the U.S. eight. Princeton's Ariel Frost will be the coxswain, while Harvard's Olivia Coffey will sit in the No. 1 seat. California's Kara Kohler and Mary Jeghers, Michigan State's Emily Regan, Washington's Kerry Simmonds and Virginia's Jennifer Cromwell fill out the rest of the boat.
