Bulldogs Open Strong At Head Of Housatonic
Yale Wins Collegiate Eight
DERBY, Conn. – The Yale women's crew had a strong start to the fall season at the annual Head of the Housatonic.
The Bulldogs captured the collegiate eight with a time of 15:11.3 and also had the fastest crews in the pairs and fours.
A majority of the Bulldogs rowed twice in the regatta. Early in the day, Yale had the top four finishing crews in the open pair. The winning crew had a time of 18:46.1.
In the collegiate four, Yale had three of the top four finishers. The winning time came in at 17:25.4.
Yale had four crews in the eights. The second eight finished fourth. The Bulldogs also had 11th and 13th-place finishes.
"The Housatonic is a great way to start out our fall season," said Yale head coach Will Porter "We raced almost everyone twice, which makes them a bit tired for the eights but it is really the only chance to race it up twice in one day. We raced hard which is one thing we want to work on at this point in the year. I liked the way we raced as a team."
The Bulldogs are back in action next Sunday at the Head of the Charles.
