Yale Opened Spring Season By Winning Longhorn Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's crew has had a top-10 national finish in 11 of the last 12 years. If the annual CRCA preseason national rankings are to be believed, the Bulldogs will add to that streak this year. Yale is ranked seventh in the first CRCA poll.

Defending NCAA champion Ohio State earned 13 first-place votes to top the rankings. California received two first-place votes to rank second, while Virginia took the No. 3 spot in the poll and earned 10 first-place votes. Washington and Princeton rounded out the top five.

The Bulldogs, who opened the season by winning the Longhorn Invitational at the University of Texas over the weekend, will face four of the teams in the top 20 and four teams that are receiving votes.

Yale is optimistic heading into the 2014 season. The Bulldogs have earned a team berth into the NCAA Championship in each of the last 12 years and has had at least one crew compete in the last 14 years.
