Thursday Racing Wraps Up at the Junior World Championships

NEW HAVEN, CT – Today's racing marks the end of all heats at the 2018 Junior World Rowing Championship. Four incoming Bulldogs, Emmeline Laurence, Margaret Hedeman, Alin Pasa and Phoebe Campbell, have had their first opportunity to test their speed on the Czech Republic course.

Hedeman, racing for the USA in the 4-, won her heat sitting in the 3 seat. Her boat now progresses directly to the A/B semi-final.

In the USA 4x, Laurence came 5th in her heat. The crew races in the repechage tomorrow and must finish in the top three to secure a spot in the A/B semi-final. This event remains one of the most competitive at the regatta, with 18 entries.

Campbell, racing in the 4x representing Great Britain, finished 3rd. The crew narrowly missed an opportunity to move directly to the semi-final, only the top two finishers progress directly. Campbell, who sits 3 seat, now must race in the repechage to advance to the A/B semi-final.

Pasa coxes the USA 8+. After finishing 3rd in her heat, the crew must now finish in the top 4 spots in tomorrow's repechage to advance to the A final.

Racing continues tomorrow morning.
