During high school, Katherine won a number of accolades as a rower. In 2004, she was an All-Met rower and part of the Canamex development team. Then in 2005, she was both an All-Met rower and a US Rowing Scholar Athlete. At Yale, she was part of the boat that won the 2005 Head of the Charles Youth Championships.
