Derby, CT - The Bulldogs won three of Saturday's five races, but lost the one that mattered most - the varsity race - falling to No. 1 ranked and undefeated Princeton on the Housatonic River. The Tigers captured the Eisenberg Cup with a time of 6:17.1, 4.1 seconds better than Yale.
The loss snapped the Elis' streak of three consecutive victories, dating back to March 26. The 2nd Varsity exacted some revenge on the Tigers, winning their race by two seconds.
"We had a great day of team racing," head coach Will Porter said. "We're a strong team and we demonstrated it in another step towards an NCAA team birth."
The Bulldogs also won the Novice 8 and Varsity 4 races.
The Novice boat finished with a time of 6:55.1, over six seconds better than the Tigers, while the Varsity 4 boat dominated the visiting Tigers by a 12 second margin.
The Elis return to action next Saturday when they face rival Radcliffe on the Charles River for the Case Cup.
