NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Four Yale rowers - seniors Christina Person and Christine Glandorf and juniors Tess Gerrand and Taylor Ritzel - have earned All New England honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Person, Gerrand and Ritzel were named to the first team, while Glandorf was a second team selection. In addition, Jamie Snider was selected as the New England Assistant Coach of the Year.
The four rowers are all part of the Yale varsity eight that is ranked third in the nation by the CRCA. The Bulldogs captured the Eastern Sprints and Ivy League title and went 8-1 during the dual race season. Gerrand earned first team honors for the third straight year, while Ritzel was a first team selection and Person a second team honoree last year.
Snider is in his 13th year at Yale and is in his second stint as an assistant coach for the women's crew. This spring, Snider guided the varsity four and second varsity four to Eastern Sprint titles. His varsity four boat has won three straight gold medals at Sprints, while the second varsity four won Sprints crowns in 2008 and 2009 and is undefeated in dual races in the last two years.
The four rowers will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Championships, and Snider is eligible for the National Assistant Coach of the Year Award, which will be voted on in June.
Racing at the NCAA Championships begins on Friday.
