Four Yale Rowers Earn CRCA All-New England Honors

May 28, 2008

FOLSOM, Calif. - Four Yale rowers have earned All-New England recognition from the CRCA. Sophomores Tess Gerrand (New South Wales, Australia) and Taylor Ritzel (Larkspur, Calif.) were both named to the first team, while senior Jamie Redman (Spokane, Wash.) and junior Christina Person (Cincinnati, Ohio) were selected to the second team. The awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers from each of the five Division One regions, organized into first and second-team selections.

All four Yale rowers are members of the varsity eight that has been ranked in the top three in the nation all spring. The Bulldogs finished second to Brown by a little over a second in the grand final at the Eastern Sprints. Yale's only loss of the dual-race season came by nearly five seconds to Brown on May 3. The Bulldogs have victories over No. 6 Tennessee, No. 7 Princeton, No. 8 Radcliffe, No. 9 Virginia and No. 19 Dartmouth.

The Bulldogs are currently in Folsom, Calif., preparing for the NCAA Team Championships, which begin on Friday on Lake Natoma.
