June 8, 2007

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Jennie Hansen, who was the stroke for Yale's second varsity, has been elected captain of the 2007-08 Yale women's crew team. Hansen, a rising senior, helped the Bulldogs to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Team Championships.

"Being elected captain is a huge honor," Hansen said. "The team is made up of an amazing group of women, and I am so proud to represent them. I hope to build upon the great success the team had this season, but next year is also a new year that has yet to be defined. My first priority is to lead with a positive attitude and develop a solid team dynamic that will facilitate hard work and success."

Hansen, a Rosemont, Pa., native, led Yale to a bronze medal in the Grand Final at the Eastern Sprints and a third-place finish in the Petite Final at the NCAA Championships.

"Jennie is well liked and respected by the entire team," said Yale Head Coach Will Porter. "She will lead by example through her training and ability to step up in competition."
