POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - A pair of Yale women's fencers, senior epeeist Tasha Garcia and sophomore sabreist captain Madeline Oliver, qualified for the NCAA championship at Sunday's NCAA Northeast Regional at Vassar. Oliver placed eighth in her weapon and Garcia placed ninth in hers.
In epee Yale also got a 12th-place finish from sophomore Robyn Shaffer and a 42nd-place finish from freshman Alison Barton. Yale's other sabreist, freshman Lucy Partman, finished 37th. In foil competition, senior Lidia Gocheva finished 27th. Junior Katharine Pitt had qualified for regionals in foil but did not compete.
