    Yale Sends Five Fencers to NCAA Championships This Wednesday, five members of Yale women’s fencing will travel to Indianapolis for the NCAA Championships, hosted by the University of Notre Dame and Indiana Sports Corporation. They will compete in a field of the top 72 female collegiate fencers in the country on Saturday and Sunday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

    Five Bulldogs Qualify for NCAA Championships, Most in Over a Decade Today the NCAA announced the participants in the 2017 NCAA Fencing Championships, held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Only 24 fencers from across the nation qualified for each of the six events (men’s and women’s epee, saber, and foil). Five members of Yale women’s fencing qualified based on their results at NCAA Regionals as well as their overall season record.

    Bulldogs Shine in Unprecedented Finish at Northeast NCAA Regionals Yale women’s fencing dominated at home this weekend, with six fencers making it to the final pool of 12 in their respective events. More fencers qualified for the final round of regionals than any season in recent memory.

    Friedmann Represents Yale at Junior Olympics This Saturday, sophomore epeeist Lucy Friedmann represented Yale at the 2017 Junior Olympics in Junior Women’s Epee. She tied for 37th. Her finish is especially impressive given the large competitive field of 208 fencers.

    Yale Women's Fencing Places Fifth in Ivy-League Round-Robins On the second and final day of the Ivy-League Round-Robins, Yale women’s fencing finished in fifth place. The Bulldogs’ overall record was 1-5.

    Bulldogs Complete First Day of Ivy-League Round-Robins On the opening day of the Ivy League Round-Robins, Yale women’s fencing fought its way to a 1-2 finish. The day opened with a loss against Princeton, the current no. 1 in the NCAA. After losing a heartbreaker to Cornell, 14-13, Yale rallied to beat Brown 21-6.

This will be the final home event for the four Bulldog seniors: team captain and epeeist Katherine Miller, epeeist Olivia Briffault, and saber fencers Lillie Lainoff and Joanna Lew.

The day was a resounding success for the Bulldogs, with a full sweep of the competition, 5-0.

    Yale Heads to Brandeis Invitational Yale women’s fencing will take the strip once again on Sunday for the Brandeis Invitational. This will be the team’s last meet before Winter break, so the Bulldogs will look for a strong performance to carry them into their packed tournament schedule next semester.

    Season Opener at Penn On November 5, Yale Women’s Fencing will travel to the University of Pennsylvania to compete in the Elite Invitational, which will serve as their season opener. Yale is slated to fence against six other schools. Most of Yale’s opponents have twice as many members on their team, so it will be a test of willpower and stamina for the Bulldogs to make it through the long day.

    Miller Set to Fence for Brazil in Olympics Rising senior Katherine Miller will soon join the ranks of Sada Jacobson ’06 and many others as yet another Yale fencer to compete at the Summer Olympics. Action starts for Miller on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time (9:00 a.m. in Rio), when the Brazil women’s epee team fences the Ukraine in the round of 16. Brazil is ranked ninth going into the team event, while the Ukraine is ranked eighth. Other top teams include China, Romania, Estonia and the Republic of Korea. The team epee competition will conclude Thursday night with the gold medal match at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

    Miller Earns Spot on Brazilian Olympic Team In August, rising senior Katherine Miller will join the likes of Sada Jacobson ‘06 as yet another Yale fencer to participate in the Summer Olympic Games. She was recently announced as a member of the epee squad for Brazil.
