NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's fencing team will be traveling to Penn State this weekend for its first meet of 2018.

The Penn State Invitational is always a tough competition for the Bulldogs. With a day of fencing that lasts from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the team faces six schools, three of which rank in the top-10 of last season's NCAA standings.

Yale will begin its day with a match against the home team, 16-time NCAA Champions Penn State. The Bulldogs will finish off their morning with bouts against UNC and 2015-2016 NCAA Champions Columbia and fence Haverford, Temple and Duke after lunch.

This weekend will be the team's first time competing against these six schools this season. Junior foilist and team manager Sarah Pak is optimistic about the upcoming matches: "I'm really proud of how hard everyone's been working...Because we've been training so hard, I think we'll see some of our best performances this weekend."
