STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Yale women's fencing team had a solid day of fencing at its first meet of the new year. With wins over UNC, Haverford and Duke and losses to Penn State, Columbia and Temple, the Bulldogs finished 3-3 in total.
Each squad had its share of standout performances. The saber squad did not drop a single bout to Haverford. First year saber fencer Lauren Kim swept UNC and Duke, while her squadmate Francesca Fedorovsky went 2-1 against 2014-2015 NCAA Champions Columbia. Sophomore epeeist Michelle Li went 3-0 against the Lions and first year epeeist India Bhalla-Ladd won all three of her bouts of the day. Foilists Sarah Pak and Camille Pham went undefeated against Penn State and Temple, respectively.
The Bulldogs will be back on the road next weekend, as they compete at Penn's Philadelphia Invitational.
