NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- This upcoming weekend, the Bulldogs are traveling to Waltham, Mass., to compete at the Brandeis Invitational on Sunday Nov. 2. The women's fencing team is scheduled to fence in five of six rounds, with one bye.
The morning opens with bouts against BC. After a break in the second round, the team competes against Brandeis to wrap up the morning. After the lunch break, the Bulldogs face SJU, UNC, and MIT. Last year, the women's fencing team came home with decisive wins against BC, Brandeis, SJU and MIT, sweeping the tournament.
This year, the Bulldogs are looking ahead to competing against UNC, whom they did not fence against at the Brandeis Invitational last year. The prior season, the team narrowly won against the Tar Heels with two 14-13 wins at the Penn State Invitational and Philadelphia Invitational respectively. Several 5-4 bouts decided the victor, and the Bulldogs are looking to maintain that edge in this weekend's tournament.
This is the first team competition of the year, with results counting towards Yale's record and NCAA placements for individuals.
