Bulldogs Begin Ivy League Tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. The Bulldogs finished their first day of competition in the Ivy League Fencing Round-Robins with a 1-3 record, falling to Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia before finishing strong with a 16-11 win against Cornell. The results from the first day place Yale in a tie with Cornell for the fifth place ranking.

In saber, Samantha Wood and Lauren Kim are ranked back to back in 15th and 16th place, with Yoanna Lazarova in a three-way tie for 17th place. In epee, Michelle Nam leads the squad in 10th place, followed by Shirley Wang in 12th place and Joy Ma in 17th place. Lucy Friedmann, India Bhalla-Ladd, and Jacqueline Hayre-Pérez have not yet fenced enough bouts to be ranked. The most promising end to the day was earned by the foil squad. Camille Pham, in second place, is on track to make All Ivy First Team; Sarah Pak and Anna Zhou, in fifth and sixth place respectively, are on track to make All Ivy Second Team. Grace Baghdadi went undefeated for the day, but has not fenced enough bouts to be ranked.
