After two days of fierce competition in the 2019 NCAA Championships, the Bulldogs have earned an impressive seventh place finish for Yale. The 91 cumulative victories place Yale well within the top third of the competition.
Individually, in epee, Shirley Wang earned 11th place, placing her in the top half of the competition. Michelle Nam earned 16th place, finishing with a positive indicator. In foil, Anna Zhou earned 13th place and Sarah Pak earned 17th place. Both Zhou and Pak improved upon their initial rankings from the first day and from previous years in the tournament. Zhou has maintained an impressive upwards trend since her freshman year in 2017. In saber, Lauren Kim earned 23rd place, winning over a quarter of her bouts.
The overall seventh place finish for Yale is the best finish the Bulldogs have earned since a sixth place tie in 2002. The team has been on a steady rise in the rankings since 2015, a trend the Bulldogs intend to continue.
