Despite undefeated performances in foil by Alisa Mendelsohn and Katharine Schemmer, the Elis narrowly fell to Brandeis in Waltham, Mass., falling 14-13.
The Elis dominated foil, winning 7-2 with Mendelsohn and Schemmer both going 3-0 in thier bouts. But a poor performance in saber, where Brandeis won 7-2, cancelled out the Elis finish.
In the decisive Epee category, Brandeis edged the Elis 5-4 for the narrow victory.
The Elis will travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to face Vassar and Rutgers on Saturday.
