Women's Fencers Rout Vassar 24-3

The women's fencing team easily rolled over Vassar in Payne Whitney Gym on Saturday, dropping only three of 27 bouts en route to a 24-3 victory. Yale's matchup against Rutgers was postponed due to impending snow.

The Bulldogs posted a 9-0 win in foil, with Jessica Dobbins, Diana Schawlowski, and Katharine Schemmer all going 3-0 in their bouts. Dobbins dropped only one point in all three matches.

In sabre, Carly Guss and Sada Jacobson won both bouts they competed in, while Erin Frey had a 3-bout shutout. Shannon Murtagh substituted in to win her match, but Catherine Kim dropped her bout to Vassar's Brodeur to give Yale the 8-1 win.

Vassar only fared marginally better in epee, taking two bouts. Erica Korb won three of three, but Isadora Botwinick and Katherine Burghardt each lost one bout for the 7-2 victory.

The Elis' scheduled meet against Rutgers was postponed due to snow. yale is scheduled to compete at the NYU Invitational tomorrow, but details continue to be worked out because of the weather.
