With three Yale fencers winning all six of their bouts in meets against both Vassar and Rutgers, the Elis defeated both teams. Yale bested Vassar 20-7 and upended Rutgers by the score of 17-10.
In foil, Alisa Mendelsohn and Katharine Schemmer went 6-0 over the two meets, while Carly Guss won all six of her bouts in saber.
Against Vassar, the Eli's 20-7 win was helped by a 9-0 shutout in foil, where Mendelsohn, Schemmer, and Isadora Botwinick each won all their battles. Guss's work helped the Elis earn a 7-2 victory in saber, but the Elis lost epee 5-4 to Vassar.
Mendelsohn and Schemmer went 3-0 each against Rutgers, with the Bulldogs winning foil 7-2. In saber, Guss had her second sweep and Justine Aw went 3-0 as well as Yale won 6-3. Erica Korb earned a shutout in epee, which the Bulldogs dropped 5-4.
Tomorrow Yale travels to New York City to participate in the NYU Invitational.
