NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Bulldogs hit the road this weekend for a series of challenging matches at the NYU Invitational in New York, N.Y. The Bulldogs faced Notre Dame, which finished second at the NCAA Championship last year, and fell 4-23. Northwestern, also a strong team, outlasted Yale by 9-18. Against Wayne State, a team the Bulldogs beat last year, Yale posted a 25-2 victory. They followed that victory up with a 19-8 victory against NYU, effectively avenging their loss at last year's invitational. Ohio State, last year's national champions, ended the tournament for Yale with a 3-24 defeat.
Captain Lidia Gocheva commented on the tournament's results:
"We obviously have some serious work to do in order to reach the level of teams like Notre Dame and Ohio State, but I am very optimistic about the remainder of the season. I hope that we will be able to apply what we learned today against our main opponents at the Ivy League Championship."
