NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Newcomers set the tone for the Bulldogs tonight, as Yale beat NYU, 21-6. Freshmen Rebecca Moss, Lidia Gocheva, and Katerine Arden all posted perfect 3-0 records and led the epee, foil, and sabre squads respectively. The Eli win is the second in as many years against the Violets, and both have come in convincing fashion.
The epee squad won six of its nine bouts. Senior Anne Nguyen posted a 1-1 record in support of Moss' strong performance. Freshman Kristin Saetveit recorded a 1-2 mark, while senior Tejas Srinivas went 1-0.
The sabre squad displayed why so much was expected of them before the season, winning eight of the nine bouts contested. Arden and fellow freshman Farrah Kimovec (2-0) were both flawless on the night. Senior Genevieve Tauxe (1-0) and junior Erin Frey (2-1) provided the rest of the support.
The Elis travel to Waltham, Mass. for the Brandeis Invitational on Sunday.
