Ashley McCauley Named Ivy League Player of the Week Again
Senior Forward within Three Points of School Career Record
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -Senior forward Ashley McCauley (Rye, N.Y.) was named Ivy League co-Player of the Week Tuesday, the second week in a row she has been honored. McCauley had a hand in all three goals in Yale's 3-2 overtime win at Penn Sunday that kept the Bulldogs one game behind league-leading Princeton in the Ivy standings. Including this past Thursday's 2-1 win at Quinnipiac, the Bulldogs have now won four in a row and nine of their last 12.
McCauley scored the first goal late in the first half at Penn, starting a comeback from a 2-0 deficit. She assisted on the second goal and also on the game-winner 3:26 into overtime. The four-point day moved her within three points of Yale's career points record (98, Emily Montgomery '78).
With 12 goals this season, McCauley leads the team and is just the second player in Yale field hockey history to have three double-digit goal seasons. She also has a team-high 28 points. A second team All-Region and unanimous first team All-Ivy League selection last season, she is five goals away from the school goals record.
Yale, which is among the teams receiving votes in the national poll for the fourth week in a row, plays at Columbia Sunday at 1 p.m.
