Carter, Landshut Earn All-Region Honors
Pair of Juniors Selected to Mideast Squad
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A pair of juniors on the Yale field hockey team, back Erin Carter (Perkiomenville, Pa.) and midfielder Dinah Landshut (Hamburg, Germany), were named All-Mideast Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday. Landshut made the first team, while Carter made the second team.
This is the first All-Region selection for Carter, who was a first team All-Ivy League pick this year and was an honorable mention All-Ivy selection last season. A weapon at both ends of the field for the Bulldogs, she tied for the team lead in goals (eight), matching her output from a year ago. That included a pair in the 3-1 win at Dartmouth, one of which was the game-winner. Carter's 16 points tied her for third on the team.
Carter was the Ivy League Player of the Week selection on Oct. 19. She is a graduate of Perkiomen Valley High School.
Landshut was a second team All-Region pick last year. She was a unanimous first team All-Ivy League pick this year, on the heels of being a second-team selection last year. She finished one assist shy of the Yale single-season record this year. She had 15 assists, moving herself into third place on Yale's career list with 28. Her 19 overall points placed her second on the team.
Landshut, who has started all 51 games of her career, attended Rudolf Steiner Schule prior to Yale.
The Bulldogs went 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League, tying for second place.
The 2010 NFHCA Division I All-American Teams will be announced on Monday, Nov. 22.
