Erin Carter Named Ivy League Player of the Week
Senior Back Scored Three Goals, Added Two Assists
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior back Erin Carter (Perkiomenville, Pa.) has been named Ivy League Player of the Week after scoring three goals and adding two assists this past weekend in Yale's games at Hofstra and No. 16 Albany. Carter, Yale's captain, leads the team in goals (four), assists (three) and points (11) for the season.
Carter's weekend included a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-3 win at Hofstra. Her penalty corner shot was tipped in by senior midfielder Dinah Landshut (Hamburg, Germany) for the Bulldogs' second goal, and she scored on a penalty stroke for Yale's fourth goal. On Sunday at No. 16 Albany she scored Yale's first goal and assisted on Yale's second goal, both on corners. She also scored on another penalty stroke in the second half.
One of Yale's best defensive players, Carter extended her games played streak to 55 and her games started streak to 52 over the weekend.
A graduate of Perkiomen Valley High, Carter was a second team All-Mideast selection and first team All-Ivy League selection last season. She last earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors on Oct. 19, 2010.
