NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Christy Bobe scored the game-winning goal 3 minutes, 28 seconds into overtime as Sacred Heart edged Yale 3-2 at Johnson Field.

Elizabeth Topp and Meredith Howell scored for the Bulldogs in the first half, but Sacred Heart rallied to tie. Colleen Carney scored with 43.5 seconds left in the second half to force overtime.

"Sacred Heart deserved to win this game," said Yale head coach Ainslee Lamb. "We spend 30 minutes a day in practice on corners, but we were only 1 of 14. Meredith Howell had a great game for us today. She has come in to her own."

Topp's goal on a penalty corner opened the scoring when she took a feed from Sarah Driscoll and drilled a shot past Sacred Heart goalkeeper Robyn Breer. Yale's second goal came shortly after Krissy Nesburg made a key save on a penalty corner. Nesburg finished with 10 saves.

Breer made 18 saves for the Pioneers (2-1).

Yale (0-1) hosts Rhode Island on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Johnson Field.
