Yale saw a 3-2 halftime lead slip away, falling to New Hampshire 5-3 in Durham. Yale fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss, while UNH improved to 3-4.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 3:19 of the first half on a goal by Trish Bissett, the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Jana Halfon increased the lead to 2-0 at 4:59. Both goals came off of rebounds of Meredith Hudson shots off penalty corners.
New Hampshire rallied to tie the game at two thanks to goals from Caitlin Gillen at 14:15 and Brittany Schneider at 24:17. The Bulldogs took the lead into halftime on a tally by Fran Gardner from 12 feet out with just 55 seconds left in the first half.
The Wildcats tied the game with a goal off a penalty corner by Jenn Harrison at 45:25. On the next penalty corner, Harrison passed to Jenn Stamp right in front of the Bulldog goal, but Yale goalie Krissy Nesburg was able to make the save. Katie White picked up the rebound, however, and scored for a 4-3 Wildcat edge at 48:50. Heidi Anderson added another goal at 61:03 for the 5-3 final.
Yale returns to action Sunday at Boston University at 1:00.
