New Haven, CT - Lindsay Collins' unassisted goal 10 seconds into overtime lifted Yale to a 3-2 win over Rhode Island Saturday afternoon at Johnson Field. The Bulldogs, who also got goals from Grace Morris and Cat Lindroth, had twice as many penalty corners (10 to 5) as the Rams and had 39 shots to URI's 8, but were nearly denied victory by 23 saves from Rhode Island goalkeeper M.J. Britt. Yale's Elizabeth Friedlander made three saves.

"Lindsay Collins decided that she wanted to be the hero," said Yale Head Coach Pam Stuper. "She made a great effort to make sure the team came up with a win."

Morris got the scoring started 3:10 into the game, knocking a Katie Rivkin pass past Reid. The Rams (5-5) got the equalizer in the 14th minute, but less than three minutes after that Cat Lindroth - playing with a padded glove to protect her injured hand - put Yale (3-6) back on top off a Morris assist. Yale went into halftime up 2-1.

The Rams knotted the score at two midway through the second half on a Jen Cetenich tally, and the defenses then took over. In addition to Friedlander's saves, Yale also got a defensive save from Beth Raveche. Morris continued to generate much of Yale's offense, finishing with nine shots on goal, but it was Collins who got the game-winner in the extra session.
