Oct. 15, 2006
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - BU scored four times in the second half, including three goals in a span of just over two minutes, to top Yale 6-1 Sunday afternoon at MIT's Jack Barry Field. The Terriers got two goals from Gabby Hajjar while Hayley Hamada and Amy Seaman had a goal and an assist each. Junior forward/midfielder Harriet Thayer had Yale's only goal.
After a hard-fought double-overtime loss at Harvard on Saturday, Yale (3-10) came out strong against BU (8-5). Thayer's fast-break goal, assisted by senior forward/midfielder Lindsay Collins, gave the Bulldogs the lead seven minutes in.
BU tied the game on a Lizzie Perreault goal at 24:59, then went ahead 23 seconds before halftime on a goal by Seaman off a penalty corner.
Yale senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Friedlander made five of her seven saves for the game in the first half. Four minutes into the second half BU increased its lead to 3-1 with a goal from Hamada.
After the three-goal spurt made it 6-1, freshman goalkeeper Charlotte Goins came on in relief of Friedlander to play the final 14:31. She made one save and did not allow a goal, extending her scoreless streak to 66:52.
BU goalkeeper Erin Prediger made one save.
